The least fun I had with old content was Coils, because I solo'd it and it felt like burning through trash mobs, apart from Nael and Bahamut. It was far more fun (apart from the final boss with the Doom on tank) than it would have been, face rolling everything. I did Delubrum Reginae for the first time the other day with a tank and 2 other DPS. You have to put in, at the very least, more than minimum effort to get the old rewards. ![]() You can still solo stuff if your level is high enough, but the game doesn't make all old content irrelevant the second you pass a threshold. I, for one, despised the "one-shot mobs 5 levels lower than you" mechanic which locked me out of quests unless I used the toy foam sword, which didn't work on a lot of quest mobs IIRC.Īdditionally, I don't imagine it would be hard to do things as WoW does, they just don't want to, because the superior design choice is to keep old content fairly relevant. It's disingenuous to dismiss disagreements by conflating it with attacks on the game itself. They're not saying that because they hate WoW, they say that because they don't agree with him. If you don't remember it being hard to get, someone probably helped you or you didn't get it early on. The only way to get it in level 65+ below is to do Dungeons. I can't remember if I got Devour from some alternate source, but I don't remember it being hard to get.ĭevour is an instant kill in dungeons and the open world mob is level 70 which I didn't have access to when I was first trying to get it. You technically "CAN" do it if you put time to it, but the amount of time investment is stupidly disproportional to the fun to be had. Average people don't want to spend months developing speed runner skills to enjoy a game. Think someone proved that aside from like one skill those could also be soloed but took massive amount of time without mistakes.Īnd thus I said "Futile and Frustrating". In lower levels, you don't have access to those, especially if you run synced and are even just trying to get those. You're probably remembering dungeons when you already have Ultravibration and Missile. I had to wait until lvl 60 + Poetics gear to start working on the level 50 spells just because the dungeons are close to impossible to finish synced with piddly level 49 and below spells. The actual good spells are in the dungeons and are a pain to solo + synced. I can count in one hand the good spells learned outside that was used from start to end. Not the ones that actually contributed massively to the Blue Mage playstyle. The shitty spells that actually only counted for completing the books. Most of things on BLU were fairly easily soloable outside of the later Trial/Raid skills.
